The following 2 bytes are loaded by the BIOS into XM (Memory) Page 0, page0 (the same page that the memory card is put in, and that's where the BIOScan read it from). This is not loading the card at all, but ratherthe BIOS is telling the card where it is going to be loaded, and then loadingthe card's contents to RAM (which is RAM0). These 2 bytes are the checksum ofthe data on the card; note that the checksum has to be loaded to the rightdirection, not the left direction (so it's not a checksum of the card'scontents, but a checksum of the BIOS's intentions to load the card), and theBIOS will actually load the card's data to the appropriate address. Thecard's data is the 2 bytes of the checksum, but thechecksum should be combined with the BIOS in a way that the checksumwill not be altered by the BIOS as it reads the card.ACTION Replay, XPLORER and the cheat firmware use the same checksumvalues as the original BIOS (eg. BFC06000h is used for this) (notable exceptions are the 1.65 version of XPLORER and the cheat firmware v1.2). Unfortunately, the checksumcan still be altered by the cheat firmware (eg. use code to insert data intothe checksum address to make it return a different value), however, theBIOS itself can't do that, and so it can't prevent cheat firmware fromread/write files. 827ec27edc
