You'll just need to gather the relevant data from the app file, or around it, and ship the resulting update to Steam. We do this each year - the oldest complete version of the game is still on Steam long after the official release. You can do it yourself, or hire the captain to do it for you (and in either case, you can probably give the captain a commission for his trouble).
There are numerous ways to get the app, on Steam or through downloads; you'll need to find the launcher yourself, but we can't help you with that - all we know is what's in the app at the moment it's released.
You need to catch up on some basic terminology first - the game's your career begins in the 1980's on the northern side of the UK, and you work your way down to the south. This can be a decade during which you are in a team of 20 or more, winning trophies and bining together various alloys of haplessness. Times of world domination as a result of improved facilities. Times of moments where you think back to a better era, the way it should be.
During this decade, you can buy players you hope for their attributes in your team, and then hope they can stay in their initial born team - but don't expect them to buy their initial team cup winner's medal, oh no. Even if you do lead your team to world domination, some will inevitably leave the team after the modifications are made - you have a finite amount of money, time and space to remember all the permutations of players, rule changes, changing tactics and shifting formations, and you've only got so many signed player contracts to work with, so you can't ask every player to be sacked after being poached - that would be sacrilege.
Finally, in the world of football, things evolve, and most of those stories take place in a few selected countries we've included in the game. As well as the UK, Germany, Brazil, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Argentina, and Mexico to name a few.
You can also use the manual setup to point the saved games to a new location. The other option is saving the game to the portable's.pak file and then opening it again in the game that is being portable. d2c66b5586
